At November’s regular Oxford Prep Board of Directors meeting, the OPS Board approved a plan to proceed with design services with Design Development Architects. This decision comes after nearly 12 months of planning, discussion, and stakeholder feedback. As with our previous projects, we will seek USDA Rural Development funding to fund this project, with a targeted completion in Summer 2027. This additional space will allow for a 33% overall enrollment expansion with the addition of another homeroom in every grade, while providing expanded specialized learning spaces and a moderate expansion to the lower school specials and upper school electives. This expansion is in response to our growing waitlists and targeted development surrounding our campus and the greater Oxford area, while also maintaining our unique mission and outstanding student outcomes.
The current targeted design includes the construction of a new building in between the athletic field and a new parking lot addition between the lower school and upper school building. This new building would include ten specialized and expanded classrooms for lower school and upper school arts and electives, sixth-grade classrooms, a modest media center, an auxiliary gymnasium, a weight room, and offices. In addition, the design plans include a lobby addition to the upper school gym to include a welcoming and flexible space for more functionality.
We are committed to keeping all stakeholders informed as the project progresses with regular updates. We are excited to continue reaching for excellence in the years to come and look forward to the opportunities this expansion will bring to our school community.
