Oxford Prep Choral Students Earn Statewide Honors

Oxford Preparatory School is proud to celebrate nine outstanding Lower School and Upper School choral students who have been selected for prestigious 2026 North Carolina Music Educators Association honors choruses.

Seven Lower School students—Harper Schmidt, Wynona Turner, Skylar Royster, Arantza Diaz, Alia Marzano, Xiamara Siton, and Isabella Holland—were selected for the 2026 NC Elementary Honors Chorus. They will join 179 other elementary singers from across North Carolina for a special performance at the North Carolina Music Educators’ Conference on Sunday, November 9, in Winston-Salem.

Several of these talented young singers are returning to the honors chorus: Xiamara Siton, Arantza Diaz, Isabella Holland, and Skylar Royster were selected for the second consecutive year, while Alia Marzano earned the distinction for the third year in a row. In preparation for the conference, the students will learn and memorize five selections performed in three different languages.

Oxford Prep also congratulates Upper School students Gavin Darrow, a junior, and Layla Enis, a sophomore, on their selection to the 2026 NCMEA High School Honors Chorus. Nearly 2,000 students auditioned statewide, and Gavin and Layla were chosen among just 178 singers selected to represent North Carolina’s top high school choral musicians.

This marks a first for Oxford Prep’s Upper School choral program and reflects the dedication, talent, and hard work of these student musicians. Oxford Prep extends its appreciation to Lower School Music Teacher Cindy Clark, NBCT, and Upper School Choral Director Sarah Stallsmith for their leadership and support of our singers.

Congratulations to all nine honorees! Go Griffins!
